Sankofa Yoga and Wellness Center and Sankofa Health Center are expanding our support services for women, birthing persons, babies & families in the DMV, Baltimore and Washington Metropolitan Area.
Located in Laurel, Maryland (Prince George's County), we are a new, small, ambitious organization supported with professionals who have a passion for improving women's health and wellness. Staffed with midwives, doulas, yoga teachers, bodyworkers and perinatal mental health practitioners, Sankofa Moon is looking for interns with a skillset that includes education, facilitation, and a demonstrated commitment to reproductive justice and holistic health and wellness.
The internship provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on practical skills in a broad range of career paths related to Women's Studies.
Eligible candidates must be Towson University students enrolled in the Women's and Gender Studies graduate or undergraduate program.

This internship is well-suited for students who have the following research interests: reproductive health; reproductive justice; midwifery; Black women's mental health, coping skills, or stress management; Black women's agency; advocacy; holistic health; etc.
This internship is available for Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. Hours are flexible and/or can be based on your program requirements. Remote options, if needed. This position is unpaid.

Tamisha J. Ponder, A.B.D, CBD, ERYT is the founder/owner of Sankofa Yoga and Wellness Center and Sankofa Health. She is a prenatal and postpartum yoga teacher, fertility doula, certified birth doula, Reiki Master, Thai Massage Specialist, and Holistic Life Coach. She is currently completing her doctorate and hold's a master's degree in Women's and Gender Studies: Health and Sexuality. She specializes in holistic reproductive health, reproductive justice, the overmedicalization and historical experimentation of Black and Brown bodies, and Black women's agency in health and wellness.
