WELCOME

Welcome to Women’s Day of Wellness at Sankofa Yoga & Wellness Center. We are honored to welcome the ladies of the Zeta Tau Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., guests, and community members into our wellness hOMe for an afternoon centered on care, connection, and collective wellbeing.

As a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., service to community has always been deeply woven into my personal and professional journey. It is truly an honor to welcome my sorors, guests, and community into a space intentionally created to support healing, restoration, and wellbeing for the mind, body, and spirit.

This special gathering was created to provide intentional space for women to pause from the demands of daily life and reconnect with themselves through experiences that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.

Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of wellness experiences including movement classes, meditation, breathwork, restorative practices, sound healing, meaningful conversations, and community-centered care.

Whether this is your first time visiting Sankofa or you are returning to the space, we hope you feel welcomed, grounded, and supported from the moment you arrive.

We look forward to sharing this experience with you.

With care,

Life Member Dr. Tamisha J. Ponder

At this time, chair yoga will not be offered as part of the event schedule. However, many of our classes are beginner-friendly and accessible for a variety of experience levels.

If you prefer to remain seated or would like a more restful experience, we recommend enjoying our downstairs offerings such as meditation, sound healing, and lounge experiences throughout the day.

Is the building ADA accessible?

Because our wellness center is located in a historic building built in 1898, there are some structural limitations that prevent full ADA modifications throughout the entire building.

However, we are able to assist guests through our lower-level entrance and many activities will take place on the main floor. Please note that some yoga classes and discussion sessions may require stair access. If you need assistance entering the building or navigating the stairs, please let a member of our team know—we are happy to support you.

Yes. For the safety of all participants and as part of participating in wellness activities and classes, guests will be asked to complete a waiver upon arrival.

Do I need to remove my shoes?

Yes. While shoes are welcome in our lounge and common areas, our classroom spaces are shoe-free zones. We kindly ask guests to remove their shoes before entering practice rooms to help maintain the cleanliness, comfort, and integrity of our wellness spaces.

What if I arrive late to a session?

To preserve the peaceful atmosphere of meditation, sound healing, and wellness sessions, late entry may not be permitted once a session has begun. If you arrive after a class has started, we invite you to relax in our lounge space until the next session becomes available.

Yes. The ladies of the Zeta Tau Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho have provided boxed lunches for registered participants.
