NEW TO SANKOFA? ENJOY TWO WEEKS FOR ONLY $49!

Mental, Emotional, and Somatic Courses
"Practices that bridge the nervous system, emotional intelligence, and inner safety."
Welcome to a different kind of healing space. At Sankofa Yoga, we believe wellness is more than physical—it’s emotional, mental, and deeply energetic. Our emotional wellness courses are designed to help you slow down, tune in, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that often get left behind.

Whether you're navigating stress, unlearning old patterns, or simply seeking a space to breathe and be, these offerings meet you where you are—with compassion and care. Through somatic movement, breathwork, trauma-informed practices, and self-reflection, you’ll begin to restore balance, release what no longer serves you, and reclaim your inner peace.
These aren’t just classes—they’re healing journeys. And you don’t have to take them alone.

Let Sankofa be your sanctuary as you begin again.

Inner Child Work
Reparenting Yourself
October 14 - November 4, 2025

Tuesdays | 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm | In-Person
Our earliest experiences quietly shape how we love, trust, and care for ourselves today. This course offers space to gently identify those patterns and begin the work of offering yourself the guidance, protection, and nurturing you may have needed then.
Whether you're new to inner child work or ready to go deeper, this 4-week journey is designed to support you with structure, softness, and a sense of safety. Each session blends embodied practices, guided reflection, and supportive group dialogue to help you:

-
Identify Core Patterns – Learn how early conditioning shows up in your relationships, self-talk, and emotional responses
-
Practice Reparenting – Engage tools to offer yourself the attunement and care you may have missed
-
Explore Somatic Awareness – Use movement, stillness, and breath to gently reconnect with the body as a source of wisdom
-
Build Emotional Safety – Develop inner resources that help you navigate life with steadiness and self-compassion

You’ll move at your own pace in a compassionate, beginner-friendly space—with time for integration and journaling each week. This course is for anyone ready to explore their inner landscape and begin nurturing a more loving relationship with themselves.
At Sankofa Yoga, we believe healing starts within. Let us help you meet your inner child with presence, patience, and love—one week at a time. Class is led by Billie Shabazz, LCSW-C.

Tuesdays | 6:30 pm - 8:00pm | ONLINE
Trauma isn’t just held in memory—it lives in the body, carried through breath, posture, silence, and survival. This 5-week trauma-informed course invites you to come home to yourself through gentle somatic practice, scholarly insight, and compassionate community.

Led by Sankofa Founder Dr. Tamisha J. Ponder, PhD, this series draws from both lived research and academic scholarship, including Stacey K. Haines’ The Politics of Trauma and Dr. Ponder’s own work on the body’s physiological responses to trauma. Each week combines guided movement, breath, and restorative stillness with reflection and dialogue, creating space for both personal healing and collective understanding.

-
Regulate the Nervous System through grounding and breath techniques that calm stress responses and restore inner safety.
-
Cultivate Somatic Awareness by noticing and responding to physical and emotional cues without judgment.
-
Explore Gentle Movement to support release, healing, and reconnection.
-
Practice Restorative Stillness to rest, soften, and restore balance.
-
Engage in Reflection & Dialogue about trauma across personal, societal, and political landscapes.
This is a choice-based, supportive space where you can move at your own pace. Whether beginning your healing journey or continuing it, you’ll be invited to reclaim safety, presence, and belonging—one breath and one week at a time.
